Beginner Online Calligraphy Workshop

Designed especially for beginners, this session is perfect if you’re completely new to calligraphy and looking to add a little handmade charm to your stationery and card-making.

You can choose to book with or without a kit. If you opt for the posted kit, you’ll receive everything you need to get started, including carefully chosen nibs so you can try out different options and discover what suits you best. During the workshop, we’ll guide you through how to hold the pen and nib correctly, how to control ink flow, and how to build confidence with pressure and movement.

Working through clear, easy-to-follow worksheets, you’ll learn how to form beautiful letter shapes with step-by-step guidance from your tutor. The online format means you’ll be able to see the tutor’s work close up, ask questions as you go, and follow along at a comfortable pace.

We’ll explore simple drills and exercises to build your confidence with lettering, then show you how to turn these same strokes into decorative border designs to frame your calligraphy. Along the way, you’ll learn tips on layout, spacing and gentle flourishes, before bringing everything together to create a sweet hand-lettered card as your final project.

All worksheets are included, and if you choose the kit option, your cards, envelopes, and tools will be posted to you in advance. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with new skills, finished pieces, and plenty of ideas to continue practising at home.

Complete Kit Option

Select this ticket to receive ink, a wooden pen-holder, a Leonardt 30 nib, a Principle Nib, a Leonardt 256 nib, Chinese ink, plus metallic paint, a paintbrush for mixing, and original worksheets & templates.

Your kit will be posted to you the week prior to your workshop. You only need to provide a jar of water, and please protect the surface that you work on in case of ink spills.

Worksheets Only

You can book this workshop without the calligraphy kit if you already have your calligraphy supplies, but would still like the full-colour worksheets printed on high quality paper and posted to you at home. You will need to provide your own penholder, pointed nib, ink and either a coloured or metallic paint ( not ink ).  All these items are available on our webshop if there's an item you need to buy.

Emailed Worksheets Only

By booking the workshop with this ticket option you save on the kit and postage altogether!! We will email the worksheets to you to print at home yourself. You will need to provide your own penholder, POINTED nib, ink and either coloured or metallic paint ( not ink ).  All these items are available on our webshop if there's an item you need to buy.

Payment Option

There is now the option to split your payment into 3 monthly instalments by using Clearpay at the checkout.

Postage

Included within this ticket price is postage to the UK mainland only, no Islands or Highlands. For other UK and international locations, please email Nadine at enquiries@themoderncalligraphyco.com with your name, address and workshop/course title and date you would like to attend and she will be able to let you know the additional postage charge and eta for your kit via Royal Mail.

PLEASE NOTE Once your kit has been posted, workshop tickets are not refundable. This does not affect your statutory rights.
