Composition & Blending Brush Pens. An intermediate calligraphy course.

This is one of our 'Beyond Beginner' courses - perfect for calligraphy enthusiasts who want to take their lettering skills beyond the basics. It's aimed at those with some calligraphy experience already.

Brush pens give such vibrant colours and the Ecoline brush pens allow you to work BIG!! Join us to learn how to make your own pieces with expressive lettering and balanced compositions using these vibrant and 'juicy' brush pens.

In this course, we explain the key components to making successful compositions while also getting to grips with using coloured brush pens creatively. We will exaggerate letter shapes, stretch and bounce them so that we learn to form pieces that are striking and beautifully balanced. You will discover the benefits of using a light pad to build up your design & how to compose designs avoiding the pitfalls. You will be guided through the design process so that you will finish having created a finished artwork. 

By booking a course with us you gain access to your tutor for feedback when offline, and we set up a course WhatsApp group so you can show the work you are doing to each other and discuss what you’ve been learning with the group.

Tickets include our Brush Pen Composition Kit which means you will have everything you need to complete all of the lessons and projects included in the course.

Your Kit

Tickets include a Pack of 10 Ecoline Brush Pens; A3 Rhodia Pad; A3 card; Paint Brush; Templates and worksheets. Your kit will be posted out to you the week prior to your workshop.

Included within this ticket price is postage to UK mainland only, no Islands or Highlands. For other UK and international locations, please email Emily at info@kirstenburke.co.uk with your name, address and the workshop/course title and date you would like to attend and she will be able to let you know the additional postage charge and eta for your kit via Royal Mail.

System requirements

This workshop will be hosted via Zoom. All you need is a PC, Mac, laptop, or tablet. We wouldn't recommend a phone as we will be very small on your screen. Your Zoom invite will come with your booking email confirmation, and we'll send it to you again 3 days before your workshop in your reminder email. After you've booked please check your Spam folder in case the email ends up in there!
