About the Event
Tutor: Emily Goodwin
Celebrate spring by pairing expressive brush calligraphy with soft, nature-inspired watercolour painting. Over five weeks, you’ll learn the foundations of brush lettering and how to combine your words with gentle washes, florals, leaves, and seasonal botanical details. Each week ends with a finished artwork based on the skills you’ve learnt—starting simply and gradually building in colour, depth, and decoration.
We’ll begin with brush control, pressure, release, and clean letter shapes. As the course progresses, you’ll explore spring palettes, blend colours, paint simple florals and foliage, and create beautifully balanced compositions rooted in nature. By the end, you’ll have a small collection of uplifting spring pieces full of light and natural charm.
Course Outline
Foundations of Brush Calligraphy Master the basics of using a water brush or paintbrush, learning how to create smooth, expressive lettering.
Whimsical Alphabets Try out playful, nature-inspired lettering styles.
Nature-Inspired Palettes Mix soft seasonal tones—fresh greens, blossom pinks, primrose yellows, sky blues—and practise blending, ombré effects, and transparent washes.
Botanical Borders & Florals Paint simple flowers, leaves, vines and decorative details to frame and elevate your lettering.
A Completed Spring Artwork Each Week Every session ends with a finished design bringing together the week’s calligraphy and botanical painting techniques.
