Creating a longer piece of calligraphy is about more than beautiful lettering. In this five-session project, we’ll look at how to plan your words, explore different layouts, work to scale and create a balanced composition that guides the eye across the page.
Work through the original Club sessions in your own time, with the accompanying worksheets to help you plan and develop your finished piece.

What You'll Learn
Across the five sessions, we’ll take a long piece of text from a print out, through to a finished piece of calligraphy.
Worksheets are included to use alongside the sessions.
One payment gives you access to all five recorded sessions and the accompanying worksheets. You'll be asked to create a free website account so Wix can give you access to your videos, but this is not a recurring subscription.

What You'll Need
You can work in your preferred calligraphy style using a pointed nib, a small paintbrush, or a brush pen.
Computer with Word or Google Docs · Printer · Chosen prose, poem or quote · Pencil · Ruler · Rubber · Scissors or craft knife · Masking tape · Light pad · Practice paper · Calligraphy tool · Practice ink · Coloured inks or gouache · Smooth 300gsm watercolour paper
Using brush pens? You’ll also need contrasting colours and a small piece of plastic for blending.
Using gouache? Have a small paintbrush and clean water to hand.
Don’t worry about having everything ready at once; your worksheets include a materials list for each individual session.
