If you’ve learnt the basics of modern calligraphy but find your words still sit in straight, slightly stiff lines, this workshop will help you loosen things up and bring your layouts to life.

We’ll focus on bounce, which is learning how to vary the size, height and spacing of your letters so your words feel connected, flowing and full of movement. We will show you simple ways to stack and shape phrases, allowing letters to rise and dip naturally, and learn how to keep that looseness controlled, rather than messy!

You’ll apply these techniques to create a finished piece to frame, or turn to a card design.

This is the perfect next step after a beginner workshop, helping you move from practising letters to creating confident, expressive layouts.

All the materials you need are provided so you can simply relax and enjoy this inspiring workshop. Your worksheets are yours to take home. We will show you how to use Finetec metallic paints, and an oblique pen holder.

There is an on-site cafe should you wish to purchase a drink before the workshop or extend your visit and stop for lunch afterwards.
