This workshop is designed for anyone who has already learnt the basics of modern calligraphy and is ready to take their layouts a step further. The focus is on bouncing, using changes in size, height and spacing to create movement and flow in your lettering.

You’ll learn how to stack words, allow letters to rise and dip, and let phrases weave together so they feel connected rather than sitting in straight, rigid lines. We’ll break down how to control bounce so it feels intentional, not messy, and how to adapt it for everything from short greetings to longer quotes.

Through guided drills and practical exercises, you’ll explore rhythm, spacing and balance, building confidence in when to push your letterforms and when to pull things back. You’ll put everything into practice by creating a finished piece that brings together bouncing lettering with an elegant layout.

All materials are provided, along with clear demonstrations and plenty of individual guidance. You’ll leave with a stronger understanding of layout, more confidence in bouncing your calligraphy, and ideas you can carry into future projects.
