If you’ve learnt the basics of modern calligraphy but feel your words still sit in straight, slightly rigid lines, this workshop will help you loosen your style and bring your layouts to life.

We’ll explore bounce; varying the size, height and spacing of your letters so your words feel more connected, natural and full of movement. You’ll learn simple ways to stack and shape phrases, letting letters rise and dip with ease, while still keeping everything balanced and intentional.

You’ll put these ideas into practice by creating a finished piece, whether that’s something to frame or a design for a card.

This workshop is the ideal next step after a beginner class, helping you move beyond practising individual letters and into creating confident, expressive layouts of your own.

Additional Information:

All materials are provided, so you can simply settle in and enjoy the session. You’ll also be introduced to Finetec metallic paints and how to use an oblique pen holder. Your worksheets are yours to keep, so you can continue practising at home.

This workshop will take place in The Loft.

All the materials you’ll need are provided and your worksheets are your to take home. Refreshments will be supplied on arrival. There is plenty of parking available and if you wanted to extend your day, there is a lovely restaurant where you can treat yourself to lunch after the workshop.
