This workshop is suitable for complete beginners — no experience is necessary.

Join our live-streamed modern calligraphy workshops from the comfort of your own home! This workshop is the perfect introduction to calligraphy and will take you through the basics of using a pointed nib and ink. We will start with a demo to show you how to use your pointed nib, then we will work through warm-up exercises to teach you the basics, practicing letterforms and joining up letters. 

We will talk about how to create your own modern calligraphy style and you'll finish off the workshop by making your own calligraphy piece with the help of our unique templates. Friendly and informative, you will be guided step by step, so that you are able to build up your skills quickly and easily. 

This workshop will be run as a live video stream. It will NOT be a pre-recorded video. You will be sent a Zoom invite 4 days before the date of the workshop, at which point we will close the even for new bookings.

Your Live Stream Workshop Kit will be posted out to you once your order is placed. All you need to provide is a jar of water, and please protect the surface that you work on in case of ink spills.

System requirement 

This workshop will be hosted via Zoom. To participate, you need a computer that has video and audio capabilities. We'd recommend using a laptop so you can easily tilt your webcam towards your work so we can see your progress. If you have a PC with a fixed webcam you can always hold your work up to it. If you opt for using a smartphone with the Zoom app, you will need a holder or somewhere to place it throughout the workshop so that your hands are free to do calligraphy and you may find it trickier to view the demonstrations at such a small size.
