About the Event

10 week modern calligraphy course - intermediate level.

Thursday mornings from 23rd April to 2nd July 2020 (Half term break on the 28th May)  10am - 12.30pm

We are excited to be able to offer this intermediate-level course which follows on from our previous 10-week workshop. This course is designed to allow you to get to grips with the calligraphy skills you have acquired and learn how to apply them to a number of different formats. Each student will receive a Rhodia Pad, an oblique pen holder and a pointed nib.

Including layout and composition, flourishing and embellishments, you will be shown how to turn your lettering into shaped artworks for the first part of the course, followed by how to create your own calligraphic stationery. You will have the opportunity to work with resists and washes, metallics and foils if you wish.

If you would like to attend, you will need to have been on a beginner's class beforehand, as we will recap on, but not teach the basics from scratch. For your first piece, please bring your own wording, we’d recommend a text of approx 50-70 words.

You can choose to use a brush, brush pens or pointed nib and work in inks, paints, metallics or a combination.  All these materials will be provided.
