About the Event

Tutor: Claire Delfont

Christmas is the perfect time to learn calligraphy. This peaceful and calming craft looks beautiful on gifts and gives a personal touch too. You will learn to write with a pointed nib, inks, and metallic paints, we will show you how to add decorative touches and swirls.

Our 2.5 hour dip pen workshop is specifically designed for beginners. Carefully structured, our lesson plan takes you through guided exercises, creating the letters of the alphabet and turning them into elegant words. Finally, you’ll work on our lovely Christmas card templates.

We’ll build your confidence by gradually adding to your understanding of the techniques which make modern calligraphy so beautiful. By the end of the class you’ll have progressed from making basic strokes to being able to connect letterforms and create your own Festive words and phrases.

All your worksheets and templates are yours to keep, so you can continue to practice your calligraphy with them at home.

As well as guiding the whole class with demonstrations and instructions, your tutor will be there to provide you with one-on-one tuition and troubleshooting any issues you may come across.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll learn about letterforms, use metallics, and try some colour blending. With these techniques in your repertoire, you'll soon be creating greeting cards, party invitations, and artworks for your home and loved ones!

All the materials you’ll need are provided, so you can relax and enjoy!

Covid Safety

We are pleased to say that as a COVID secure venue, we are able to continue hosting workshops in our studios. We hope that being able to attend our workshops will give our students a much-needed opportunity to learn and relax in safety when so many other options are unavailable.

We take safety at our workshops seriously and we will do everything necessary to keep you safe and have a great workshop. We have a rigorous workshop hygiene procedure, socially distanced work stations, and practice no-touch teaching.

We ask that you please do not attend if you are feeling ill, or think that you may have been exposed to the virus. You are really welcome to attend a workshop with someone from your bubble but we cannot accept bookings of groups over six. Bubble members will be seated together, socially distanced from other bubbles and individuals. Please wear a mask to enter and move around the studio, but you are free to remove your mask if you want when you are seated.

We are continually reviewing our measures as new government guidelines are released, and the latest version of our safety procedures can always be found on our website, including what to expect when you attend a workshop.
