About the Event
Tutor: Laura Prudence
Join our special Christmas themed live-streamed copperplate calligraphy workshops from the comfort of your own home! This workshop is the perfect introduction to copperplate, and Christmas is the ideal time to learn this beautiful traditional skill.
Learn to use an oblique penholder, pointed nibs, ink, and metallic paint so that you can turn your hand to gift tags, social stationery, and festive place settings. You will be guided through creating letterforms, adding flourishes and decorative elements, finishing with creating a pretty Christmas card using your new skills. With carefully structured lesson sheets, templates, and lots of advice, demonstrations, and encouragement from Laura, this class is the perfect intro to becoming confident in this historic style.
You'll finish off the workshop by making your own brilliant Christmas Card with the help of our unique templates designed by Kirsten Burke. Friendly and informative, you will be guided step by step, so that you are able to build up your skills quickly and easily.
This workshop is a live stream via Zoom, which means that you can ask questions and receive direct help with your work from our experienced tutor. This workshop is NOT a pre-recorded video and is suitable for complete beginners.
An online workshop is a wonderful way to learn calligraphy, as you are able to watch your tutor demonstrate up close on your screen so that every letter stroke and movement of the pen and hand is magnified.
Tickets for this copperplate live-streamed workshop include a gorgeous wooden oblique penholder, a pot of jet black pigment ink, a luscious metallic Finetec paint, a paintbrush for mixing, your worksheets and templates, that you can use again and again plus a Christmas Card & Envelope. (RRP £20).
Your 'Workshop Kit' will be posted out to you once your order is placed. You will also need a jar of water, and please protect the surface that you work on in case of ink spills.
This workshop will be hosted via Zoom and you will be sent a 'Zoom invite' 4 days before the date of the workshop. All you need is a PC, Mac, laptop or tablet that has video and audio capabilities and a good wifi connection. If you opt for using a smartphone with the Zoom app, you will need a holder or somewhere to place it throughout the workshop so that your hands are free to do calligraphy and you may find it trickier to view the demonstrations at such a small size.
You can find the full system requirements here.
PLEASE NOTE Once your kit has been posted, workshop tickets are not refundable. This does not affect your statutory rights.
