About the Event

Tutor: Maisie Minett

Join us and get into the festive spirit with this sparkling Christmas calligraphy workshop. Learn to use a nib to create beautiful gift wrap, tags, and Christmas cards - with a focus on fabulous metallics!  This workshop is suitable for beginners.

This time of year can be so hectic, so why not come along and spend a few relaxed hours with us and enjoy learning a new skill at the same time!  The workshop will begin with a demonstration, followed by a step by step tutorial on how to use a pointed nib to create beautiful modern calligraphy. You'll be guided step-by-step through the creation of letterforms and your tutor will be on hand to answer questions and help you along the way. Finally, you will explore how to add metallics and embellishments to your creations to really elevate them and add that Christmas wow factor!

All your templates, which are original Kirsten Burke designs, will be yours to keep, as well as your worksheets so you can continue your lettering journey from home.  Everything you need to complete the workshop will be provided so you can just relax and enjoy!

We have a small shop at our studio, stocking some of our favourite calligraphy supplies, including the items you will have used during your workshop so that you can continue your calligraphy journey at home.

Teas, coffees, and cold drinks will be available throughout your workshop, and our staff will be wearing PPE to make and serve it. We'll also have a selection of individually wrapped snacks and treats for you to help yourself to!

We are pleased to say that as a COVID secure venue, we are able to continue hosting workshops in our studios. We hope that being able to attend our workshops will give our students a much-needed opportunity to learn and relax in safety when so many other options are unavailable.

We take safety at our workshops seriously and we will do everything necessary to keep you safe and make sure you have a great workshop. We have a rigorous workshop hygiene procedure, socially distanced work stations, and practice no-touch teaching.

We ask that you please do not attend if you are feeling ill, or think that you may have been exposed to the virus. You are really welcome to attend a workshop with someone from your bubble but we cannot accept bookings of groups over six. Bubble members will be seated together, socially distanced from other bubbles and individuals. Please wear a mask to enter and move around the studio, but you are free to remove your mask if you want when you are seated.

We are continually reviewing our measures as new government guidelines are released, and the latest version of our safety procedures can always be found on our website, including what to expect when you attend a workshop.
