Our full-day workshop is designed for beginners, allowing you the time to really get to grips with the techniques needed to take your calligraphy forward. Carefully structured, our lesson plan takes you through guided exercises, shows you how to create the letters of the alphabet and turn them into elegant words. Finally, you’ll work onto our lovely card templates, designed by Kirsten Burke, the UK’s leading calligrapher to build your muscle memory while having the satisfaction of creating something beautiful at the same time.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll learn to use metallics, and try some colour blending. With these techniques in your repertoire, you'll soon be creating greeting cards, party invitations and artworks for your home and loved ones! We teach you the tricks to turn your hand to modern calligraphy whatever your skillset; and it’s the imperfections that make it human. 

All your worksheets and templates are yours to keep, so you can continue to practice your calligraphy with them at home. As well as guiding the whole class with demonstrations and instructions, your tutor will be there to provide you with one-on-one tuition and troubleshooting any issues you may come across. All the materials you’ll need are provided, as well as refreshments and a delicious lunch. If you have any particular dietary requirements then please let us know.

We have a shop at our studio, stocking all of our favourite calligraphy supplies, including the items you will have used during your workshop so that you can buy your favourites.
