About the Event
Tutor: Maisie Minett, with BSL Interpreter Dean Randall
Join Lead Calligrapher Maisie and BSL Interpreter Dean Randall in this fun and uplifting pointed nib livestream class, perfect for beginners.
We're delighted to be offering this inspiring pointed nib workshop to the BSL community. We've worked closely with fantastic BSL interpreter, Dean Randall, to develop this dynamic and creative class. Following our standard workshop format, Dean will interpret throughout, as our Lead Calligrapher Maisie guides and inspires you to create some beautiful modern calligraphy. Together, they'll answer any questions you may have, so please feel free to ask during the workshop.
Maisie will show you how to create your own unique modern calligraphy style using a dip pen, and you'll finish the workshop by making your own calligraphy piece with the help of our engaging templates. Friendly and informative, you will be guided step by step, so that you are able to build up your skills quickly and easily.
This workshop is a live stream via Zoom, which means that you can ask questions and receive direct help with your work from our experienced tutor.
An online workshop is a wonderful way to learn calligraphy, as you are able to watch your tutor demonstrate up close on your screen so that every letter stroke and movement of the pen and hand is magnified and easy to follow. You will receive a confirmation email after booking, which will include your Zoom link. This link will also be included in the reminder email we send 3 days before your workshop.
After you've booked, please check your Spam folder in case the email ends up there!
Tickets for this live-streamed workshop include:
- A wooden penholder
- A Leonardt 30 nib
- A gorgeous metallic paint
- A paintbrush for mixing
- Original worksheets & templates designed by Master Calligrapher Kirsten Burke
You only need to provide a jar of water (please protect the surface that you work on in case of ink spills).
Your kit will be posted out to you the week prior to your workshop, if it does not arrive a week before, please let us know ASAP so that we can help!
The workshop will be hosted via Zoom, so you need a computer that has video and audio capabilities. We'd recommend using a laptop so you can easily tilt your webcam towards your work so we can see your progress. If you have a PC with a fixed webcam you can always hold your work up to it.
If you opt for using a tablet, you'll need a holder or somewhere to place it throughout the workshop so that your hands are free to do work. We do not recommend using a phone to view this workshop as it will be very small on your screen.
You can find the full system requirements here.
PLEASE NOTE: Once your kit has been posted, workshop tickets are not refundable. This does not affect your statutory rights.
If you want to buy this workshop without the calligraphy kit as you already have your own supplies, please contact us directly.
