Join our live-streamed modern calligraphy workshops from the comfort of your own home! This workshop is the perfect introduction to calligraphy and will take you through the basics of using a pointed nib and ink. We will start with a demo to show you how to use your pointed nib, then we will work through warm-up exercises to teach you the basics, practicing letterforms and joining up letters.

We will talk about how to create your own modern calligraphy style and you'll finish off the workshop by making your own calligraphy piece with the help of our unique templates. Friendly and informative, you will be guided step by step, so that you are able to build up your skills quickly and easily.

This workshop is a live stream via Zoom, which means that you can ask questions and receive direct help with your work from our experienced tutor. This workshop is NOT a pre-recorded video and is suitable for complete beginners.

An online workshop is a wonderful way to learn calligraphy, as you are able to watch your tutor demonstrate up close on your screen so that every letter stroke and movement of the pen and hand is magnified and easy to follow. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners — no experience is necessary. Your Zoom invite will come with your booking email confirmation, and we'll send it to you again 3 days before your workshop in your reminder email. Your Kit

Tickets for this live-streamed workshop include Tickets for this live-streamed workshop include ink, a wooden penholder, a Leonardt 30 nib, plus a gorgeous metallic paint, a paintbrush for mixing, and original worksheets & templates designed by our Master Calligrapher Kirsten Burke.

Your kit will be posted out to you the week prior to your workshop. You only need to provide is a jar of water, and please protect the surface that you work on in case of ink spills.

Included within this ticket price is postage to UK mainland only, no Islands or Highlands. For other UK and international locations, please email Emily at info@kirstenburke.co.uk with your name, address and the workshop/course title and date you would like to attend and she will be able to let you know the additional postage charge and eta for your kit via Royal Mail.

System requirements

This workshop will be hosted via Zoom. All you need is a PC, Mac, laptop, or tablet. We wouldn't recommend a phone as we will be very small on your screen. Your Zoom invite will come with your booking email confirmation, and we'll send it to you again 3 days before your workshop in your reminder email. After you've booked please check your Spam folder in case the email ends up in there!
