Lead Calligrapher - Maisie Minett

This course is perfect for anyone wanting to add a truly personal touch to their (or someone else's) special day.

To start, you’ll learn the basics of modern calligraphy (which may be a recap for some) and have a look at different styles such as romantic, whimsical, and modern - a particular style might really capture the essence of your day. We’ll also look at how you can produce faux calligraphy with paint markers! This will enable you to write on different surfaces (chalkboards or glass, for example).

Throughout the course, we’ll show you all kinds of tips and tricks to produce a range of eye-catching features including invitations, RSVP envelopes, escort cards, table numbers, place settings (perhaps writing on glass bottles or elegant tent folded cards), favour-tags and signage. You’ll be so inspired to start practicing!

As we progress, you’ll gain the pen control needed to take you from choppy and shaky to smooth, elegant calligraphy - a skill your guests will notice and love. The joy of this course is that not only will you gain the enviable skill of being able to create a wealth of stunning wedding stationery, you’ll be able to use these same skills for many other special occasions.

By the end of the course, you’ll be fully equipped to go forth and joyfully create something incredibly special that will be a cherished keepsake forever.

This course is suitable for beginners as well as those who have already attended previous calligraphy workshops.

Your Kit

Your kit will be posted out to you the week prior to your workshop and will include a penholder and nibs, Inks, a finetec, paintbrush, silver metallic pen, place cards, wooden board, chalk, dot pad, worksheets and templates. You only need to provide is a jar of water, and please protect the surface that you work on in case of ink spills.
