We’re thrilled to offer our Introduction to Copperplate Calligraphy as a live online class—designed especially for complete beginners, with no prior experience needed.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to create elegant letterforms, add graceful flourishes, align your work beautifully, and use various grid guides to support your writing. By the end of the class, you’ll put your new skills to use by crafting a lovely greeting card. As an added bonus, you’ll receive a Copperplate Capitals Alphabet—perfect for creating custom monograms after the session.

With structured lesson sheets, templates, and plenty of expert guidance, this is the ideal introduction to this classic and refined calligraphic style.

This is a live-streamed Zoom workshop—not a pre-recorded video—so you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and receive real-time feedback from our experienced instructor. Watching demonstrations close-up on your screen allows you to see every detail of pen and hand movement, making it easy to follow and learn at your own pace.

Your Kit

Tickets for this live-streamed workshop include an oblique penholder and EF Principal nib, jet black pigment ink, plus original worksheets and templates, designed by Kirsten Burke that you can use again and again, along with your bonus Copperplate Capitals Alphabet!

Your Live Stream Workshop Kit will be posted out to you the week prior to your workshop. All you need to provide is a jar of water, and please protect the surface that you work on in case of ink spills.

Included within this ticket price is postage to UK mainland only, no Islands or Highlands. For other UK and international locations, please email Emily at info@kirstenburke.co.uk with your name, address and the workshop/course title and date you would like to attend and she will be able to let you know the additional postage charge and eta for your kit via Royal Mail.

System requirements

This workshop will be hosted via Zoom. All you need is a PC, Mac, laptop, or tablet. We wouldn't recommend a phone as we will be very small on your screen. Your Zoom invite will come with your booking email confirmation, and we'll send it to you again 3 days before your workshop in your reminder email. After you've booked please check your Spam folder in case the email ends up in there!
