This is a new and exciting development in our course offerings, and we're delighted to be sharing it with you! Up until now, we've only offered half-day brush pen workshops, so this 5-week course aimed at beginners and experienced calligraphers alike is the one you've all been waiting for...

Whether you're a complete beginner or simply looking to improve your style, we will take you from basic strokes to controlling the brush pen with confidence.

We'll begin by looking at how different brush pens work and how to get the most out of them, paving the way to creating calligraphic layouts to frame or gift to your loved ones. This is a fantastic skill to learn as brush pens are incredibly versatile and brush lettering can be used in all kinds of creative ways.

You'll have the chance to try out different types of brush pen, allowing you to compare results and discover the one that best suits your own unique style. Here's a quick summary of what our expert tutor will guide you through during this exciting 5-week course:

• How to control the brush pen and explore the differences and results they give
• Getting to grips with forming words
• Refining your spacing and centering your work
• Understanding guidelines to give your calligraphy consistency
• Working with small brush pens to create contrasting sized lettering
• Enhancing your work with decorations and highlights
• Bouncing your brush calligraphy to give your lettering energy
• Exploring simple layouts and the process of composition - from the first draft to the final piece

Our friendly tutor will give top tips and simple ways to practice at home, helping you to improve muscle memory and build on the skills learned from each lesson.

Everything you need for the course will be supplied and posted to you in advance of your workshop. Each session will be recorded, so if you miss a week for any reason, fear not, you'll able to watch the recording at your convenience and catch up!

Your Kit

Tickets include a black dual-tipped brush pen; various colours for you to blend: pentel touch sign pens, fibre tipped brush pens, Koi felt brush pens; Layout pad, templates and worksheets. 

A light pad is recommended but not essential. Your kit will be posted out to you the week prior to your workshop.

Included within this ticket price is postage to UK mainland only, no Islands or Highlands. For other UK and international locations, please email Emily at info@kirstenburke.co.uk with your name, address and the workshop/course title and date you would like to attend and she will be able to let you know the additional postage charge and eta for your kit via Royal Mail.

PLEASE NOTE Once your kit has been posted, workshop tickets are not refundable. This does not affect your statutory rights.
