Pointed Nib Modern calligraphy 10-week course - beginner to intermediate level. 

Everything you need to know about pointed nib lettering. This comprehensive course allows you to learn everything from the basics to styling your calligraphy. Learn to handle a nib so that you can create elegant lettering every time! Each student will receive one of our Practice Pads, a wooden pen holder, a pointed nib, and a pot of black calligraphy ink within the ticket price.

Building on your skills week by week, we will start with the fundamentals, show you exercises, challenges, and projects that will increase your ability as well as learn how to assess your own work so that you can understand how to improve. Learn to alter the angle and width of your letters, to adapt your style for any occasion. Work with coloured inks and metallic paints and try different pointed nibs, so that you can find the one you love.

We will show you easy ways to add style to your work, how to bounce your lettering, plus how to form numerals and ampersands.  From poetry to party invites, you will gain the skills you need to add gorgeous hand-lettered details to anything and everything in time for Christmas.

We will work on different projects to give you the chance to try out and practice each technique as it is taught. With feedback on from our experienced tutors throughout, you will learn to use contrasting scripts, sizes and weights, and counterbalancing techniques.

There will not be a class on Tuesday 27th October ( half term).
