Time & Location

West Oxford Community Centre, Botley Rd, Oxford OX2 0BT
About the Event
Tutor: Emma Cox
Emma is left handed and discovered the therapeutic qualities of calligraphy when she suffered from burn out. Since then she has worked creating wedding stationery and has most recently become our tutor for the Oxford area.
Modern calligraphy is about lettering that has energy and flow. Just like with a pointed nib, it involves the pressure and release of the brush to get the gorgeous contrast of thick and thin lines. As brush pens come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, this creative session gives you the opportunity to try out lots of different types and discover the ones that are just right for you.
Our workshops are carefully structured, building up your knowledge step by step. Our worksheets teach you how to combine strokes to form letters, then turn them into words and phrases. You’ll spend time working on beautiful brush lettering templates created by our Master Calligrapher Kirsten Burke, and enjoy getting to grips with techniques like ‘blending’ and ‘bounce’. Your tutor will give demonstrations as well as provide one-on-one support and troubleshoot any individual difficulties you come across.
Before you know it you'll be creating greeting cards, party invitations, and artworks for your home and to give as gifts.
All the materials you need are provided so you can simply relax and enjoy this inspiring workshop.
The workshop will take place in the Main Hall.
There is an excellent cafe in the centre where you can purchase a drink and maybe even a slice of the homemade cake prior to the workshop.
There is now the option to split your payment into 3 monthly instalments by using Clearpay at the checkout.
This is a paperless ticketing system - you don't need to bring it with you. Everything you need will be provided.£49.50
