Perfect for beginners or anyone looking to refresh their knowledge and skills!

This day-long workshop gives you the opportunity to try out lots of different brush pens, allowing you to discover the ones that best suit and compliment your own unique style. 

Modern calligraphy is all about lettering that has energy, flow and expression.  Brush pens allow you to be truly creative! Just like pointed nib, they involve the pressure and release of the brush to get the gorgeous contrast of thick and thin lines.

Our workshops are carefully structured, building up your knowledge step by step. Our worksheets teach you how to combine strokes to form letters, then turn them into words and phrases. You’ll spend time working on beautiful brush lettering templates created by our Master Calligrapher Kirsten Burke, and enjoy getting to grips with techniques like ‘blending’ to create gradient effects and how to ‘bounce’ your letters. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have progressed from making basic strokes to being able to connect letterforms and create your own calligraphic words and phrases.

As well as guiding the whole class with demonstrations and instructions, your tutor will be there to provide you with one-on-one tuition and troubleshooting any issues you may come across.

We have a shop at our studio which stocks some of our favourite calligraphy supplies. These include the items you will have used during your workshop, so that you can continue your calligraphy journey at home!

All the materials you’ll need are provided, and refreshments will be available throughout the day as well as a delicious hot homemade lunch!

COVID SAFETY

We are pleased to say that as a COVID secure venue, we are able to continue hosting workshops in our studios. We hope that being able to attend our workshops will give our students a much-needed opportunity to learn and relax in safety when so many other options are unavailable.

We take safety at our workshops seriously and we will do everything necessary to keep you safe and have a great workshop. We have a rigorous workshop hygiene procedure, socially distanced workstations, and practice no-touch teaching.

We ask that you please do not attend if you are feeling ill, or think that you may have been exposed to the virus. You are really welcome to attend a workshop with someone from your bubble but we cannot accept bookings of groups over six. Bubble members will be seated together,  socially distanced from other bubbles and individuals. Please wear a  mask to enter and move around the studio, but you are free to remove your mask if you want when you are seated.
