Modern calligraphy is about lettering that is dynamic and has energy, so rather than worrying about getting every letter identical, you can relax and have fun with it. Creating your own style and enjoying the process is what it’s all about.

There are lots of different ways of creating beautiful modern calligraphy, and sometimes knowing where to start can be tricky! This full day taster workshop gives you the chance to try both pointed nib and brush pen using a range of types and colours so you can see which you enjoy the most and explore the various effects that can be achieved with each.

You will be creating letter-forms, using colour, metallics, and designing layouts.  You will work on beautiful templates and create finished pieces that you can frame and keep for yourself or give as a charming personal gift. With these techniques in your repertoire, you'll soon be creating greeting cards, party invitations and artworks for your home and loved ones!

As well as guiding the whole class with demonstrations and instructions, your tutor will  provide you with one-on-one tuition and troubleshoot any issues you may come across.

We have a small shop at our studio, stocking some of our favourite calligraphy supplies, including the items you will have used during your workshop, so that you can buy your favourites and continue your calligraphy journey at home!

Refreshments are provided on arrival along with a delicious lunch so if you have any particular dietary requirements then please let us know on the booking form.
